In tense interview, Ivanka Trump lashes out at Cosmopolitan reporter

Donald Trump previously joked on the campaign trail about Ivanka’s quick return to work following the birth of her son in late March, saying he wouldn’t fire her after she “did a good job” and returned quickly. Trump said he didn’t think it was necessary and, besides, if he were hospitalized, everyone would know anyway.

2/3:Regardless of who you support, policies benefiting women+families are becoming topics of mainstream conversation & that’s a good thing. Trump noted that “there are a lot of men involved” in child care and that “under the plan we’re doing they will be helped so much”, yet Trump’s child care plan explicitly excludes fathers from access to parental leave.

Fast forward to this week, when Trump appeared on Dr. Oz’s show and, in a moment befitting both men’s TV experiences, briefly handed the doctor a copy of Trump’s medical records. The Republican presidential candidate told Dr. Trump shared the results of a recent physical exam during the taping, with Oz reading from a summary of exam results that Trump is 6 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs 236 pounds.

The campaign described the information as medical records, but it consisted of only a one-page letter from Dr. Harold Bornstein and a letter from Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City stating that Bornstein has been reappointed to its staff and has clinical privileges at the hospital. So it’s a great thing and at my own business since inception I’ve offered eight weeks paid leave, only 10 percent of American companies offer that benefit, so it is quite unique and this policy is to encourage more companies and to encourage all Americans to be able to get the benefit of it should they be new mothers because it’s so critical and important.

It also said an EKG and chest X-ray this year were normal. While he has talked about his family members’ alcoholism and Alzheimer’s disease, the letter did not address those issues in his family health history. There’s also no way of knowing that the candidates told us everything pertinent about their health and, frankly, that’s none of anyone’s business. He takes statins, which are used to lower cholesterol levels; those drugs are commonly taken by people over the age of 60. Trump’s body mass index, calculated by weight and height, was 29.5, which is at the upper end of the overweight category and on the verge of entering the obese range.
