Police in Chicago are investigating the fatal shooting of the first cousin of National Basketball Association star Dwyane Wade.
The Republican presidential candidate tweeted the shooting was “Just what I have been saying”. Trump later issued what seemed a corrective tweet offering condolence to Wade and his family.
Hours later, the millionaire businessman-turned-politician posted another tweet, this time offering condolences to Wade’s family: “They are in my thoughts and prayers”.
Donald Trump took new criticism today – after a tweet that many say is trying to capitalize on tragedy.
On Saturday, he took to Twitter and elaborated on comments he made on Friday.
She was near the school, which is about a mile and a half southwest of the University of Chicago, when two males walked up and fired shots at a third man but hit Aldridge in the head and arm. “We send our deepest condolences to the entire Wade family during this hard time”. Trump said at a rally in MI. “We must be smart!” “African-Americans will VOTE TRUMP!”, he tweeted Saturday morning.
As The Hill reported, he told a crowd in Akron, Ohio: “I say it with such a deep felt feeling, what do you have to lose?” Some polling suggests that, in Pennsylvania and OH, he’s getting zero percent of the African-American vote.
“We just ought to be extending our sympathy to the family”.
Hillary Clinton’s running mate, Tim Kaine, criticized Trump for his initial response linking Aldridge with the African-American vote, saying the only appropriate response to Aldridge’s death was sympathy.
We’ve noted from the outset that Mr Trump’s outreach to black voters was mostly about convincing the one-fifth of Republican men and one-quarter of Republican women who see him as biased against women and minorities that he was a palatable option as president.
On Thursday, Wade spoke via satellite on a panel hosted by ESPN that was focused on gun violence. Seen many politicians exploit us.

Trump has tried to broaden his appeal to minority voters in recent weeks, as his poll numbers show him struggling.
