British Minister for International Development Priti Patel today called on Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and offered 5 lakh pounds in assistance and expertise to the state, primarily for the proposed smart cities.

Speaking after unfurling the tricolour on the Independence Day at the Motilal Nehru Stadium in the state capital, the Chief Minister also announced an increase in the social security pensions in the state. “A campaign also would be launched for this”, Chouhan said addressing a function here yesterday on the occasion of Independence Day.
Reiterating his resolution for development of SCs, STs and OBCs, Chouhan said that as many as 5,500 youth have been benefited under community development training and employment in tribal blocks.
The state economic survey report 2014-15, tabled in the state assembly past year, states that there were more than 16 lakh educated unemployed people in Madhya Pradesh.
“Daily wage workers will be treated like permanent employees so that they also get benefits of the pay scale with increase in pay and dearness allowance”.
The dependents of those working as work charged employees will also be eligible for compassionate appointments. Chouhan said that the state government was committed to establishing an egalitarian society in which benefits of development reach out to all the needy without any bias.
Madhya Pradesh has set an ambitious target of generating 22,000 MW power by 2022 and plans to invest almost Rs 9,000 crore in strengthening the power infrastructure in the next three years.

The chief minister announced that special cyber courts will be set up at Jabalpur, Bhopal, Indore and Gwalior to address cyber and high-tech crime.
