Independence Day: Resurgence Trailer Is Here

Independence Day worked because it was a wholly-comprised film that, as we thought anyway, didn’t have space for a sequel. Aptly titled Independence Day: Resurgence, the story takes place two decades after the the first film.
Using recovered extraterrestrial technology, the nations of Earth collaborate on an huge defense program to protect the planet.
As a sequel to the 1996 blockbuster starring Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum, just about everything in Independence Day: Resurgence is bigger.

Will Smith, who starred in the first movie, opted out of the sequel, but Vivica A. Fox and Brent Spiner will reprise their roles alongside newcomers Maika Monroe, Sela Ward, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Joey King, Angelababy and William Fichtner. From what we can tell, the aliens are back and this time they’ve got better weapons and tech to aid in their invasion. The invaders have much bigger technology and some new tricks up their sleeve, but we have our plucky spirit, Pullman’s former President Whitmore in full speech mode and the big brain of David Levinson (Goldblum).
