The sources said Modi sought all evidence to expose at worldwide forums to support the Pakistani involvement in the attack.
“It became clear that a cover was being provided to infiltrators from Pakistan”.
“It is a blatant attempt on India’s part to deflect attention from the fast deteriorating humanitarian and human rights situation in the Indian-occupied Kashmir since the death of Burhan Wani”, Pakistan’s foreign ministry said in a statement.
Singh said that the infiltration attempts by terrorists have shown a marked increase in comparison to the past 3-4 years.
The encounter comes just days after four terrorists attacked an Army camp in Uri sector and killed 18 jawans.
The Bangladesh high commissioner in New Delhi also told media that Dhaka would continue to work together to eradicate terrorism from this region and said his government was waiting for Indian agencies to complete their investigation.
The operation was on with at least 10 militants still engaged in heavy exchange of fire with Indian soldiers.
On September 19, PM Modi chaired a high-level meeting attended by top ministers and other officials over the Uri attacks.
Army officials said some of the critically wounded had been flown to a hospital in New Delhi and one had died while undergoing treatment.
The toll in the attack has risen to 18 with one more armyman succumbing to injuries.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police had registered a case on Sunday but the NIA has taken over the investigation now. The four militants were killed after an hours-long gun battle.
Though Pakistan has denied its involvement in Uri terror attack, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said that India was not concerned about Pakistan’s reaction.
There was also no offer of cooperation to investigate the Uri attack, as was done by Pakistan in the aftermath of the terror strike on Pathankot airbase in January.
Soldiers at the LoC became apprehensive about a possible infiltration bid afresh after Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing at forward Indian posts on Tuesday afternoon.

“The army foiled an infiltration bid in the Nowgam sector along the LOC in north Kashmir”. Referring to various unilateral peace initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi after coming to power in May 2014 including the invitation of his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif to his swearing in ceremony and Lahore visit last December, Sewhani said Islamabad had interpreted these overtures as India’s weakness.
