Pakistani media reacted positively to the brief meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi in Paris, describing it as “ice-breaker” which will lead towards easing of tension.

India has launched a global alliance with France to boost solar power generation across countries, especially in developing ones that have ample solar energy resources but insufficient capital.
He also launched at the India Pavilion a coffee table book, entitled “Parampara”, with Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar and Power, Coal and New and Renewable Energy Minister Piyush Goyal.
Prime Minister Modi shook hands, sat with and talked to Sharif for a few minutes on Monday in Paris on the sidelines 21st session of the Conference of Parties (COP21).
Prime Minister while addressing the International Solar Alliance Summit said that International Solar Alliance has been his long-standing dream.
Modi said convergence between economy, ecology and energy should define the world’s future. The prosperous still have a strong carbon footprint but the world’s billions at the bottom of the development ladder are seeking space to grow.
“Hope there is a thaw in the relationship between the two nations after this meeting”. During my visit to India earlier this year, we committed ourselves to a new, deeper partnership between our nations.
“We agree that (climate change) is an urgent threat. Calling upon the advanced nations to assume ambitious targets and pursue them as they have the most room for impacts, Modi said, “We look to the developed countries to mobilise $100 billion annually by 2020 for mitigation and adaptation”.
“Scaling up renewable energy in India is undoubtedly one of the key steps to ensure the world stays on track to avoid the unsafe consequences of an increased climate change”, said Ramadas Kamath, executive vice president of Infosys.
India’s national action plan, combined with more than 180 other submitted to the United Nations, will not be enough to reduce global warming to the limit scientists say is needed to avert the worst effects of climate change.
“And I am proud that after our meeting here we’re going to be attending what we’re calling Mission Innovation, which is a groundbreaking new public-private initiative that will accelerate the pace at which we can develop and deploy clean energy that’s affordable to populations around the world”, he said.

However, he said his interaction with Modi was “cordial” and Indian PM expressed his desire to further the process of solving the issues that are hindering the efforts to improve bilateral ties.
