Following the Nawaz and Modi’s talks in Ufa, Sartaj Aziz said that Islamabad would raise the issue of Indian interference in Pakistan’s internal matters during the security advisers’ meeting.

According to the understanding reached in Ufa, Prime Minister’s Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz would travel to New Delhi for talks with his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval, who would then make a reciprocal visit to Islamabad.

A senior Pakistani diplomat involved in the process confirmed to The News that Pakistan had received the proposal from New Delhi. After month-long pause India agreed to send its foreign secretary to Islamabad to work out a roadmap for peace talks but that also did not work. Regarding recent incident in Gurdaspur India, the adviser said the government has already denounced the recent brutal incident and rejected the Indian allegations of Pakistan’s hand in that incident. They also accused India for unabated provocation in one way or the other, including frequent violations of LoC and Working Boundary as well as whipping up terrorism to destabilise Pakistan.

Pakistan retaliated on Friday, announcing it would raise the issue of the alleged involvement of India’s RAW in its territory at the United Nations.

Pakistan would flag its concerns about alleged Indian involvement in fomenting terrorism in Karachi, Balochistan and tribal areas, the report added.

Aziz was quoted by state-run Radio Pakistan as saying that Pakistan had not yet confirmed the proposed meeting.

He made the remarks whereas responding to questions in the Pakistan National Assembly at present. “I think the prime minister is certainly going to use the forum of the UNGA to highlight RAW’s activities in the country”, he had said.
