India blasts Pakistan after Nawaz Sharif speech at UNGA

She also told the UN General Assembly that shortly before Pakistan gave its “hypocritical sermons” in the world body, its envoy in New Delhi was summoned in the context of the most recent of the terror attacks in Uri that claimed 18 Indian lives. I have gone the extra mile to achieve this, repeatedly offering a dialogue to address all outstanding issues. PM Sharif at #UNGA says India poses unacceptable conditions to dialogue.

India has said it would only discuss terrorism-related issues, whereas Pakistan wants a wider agenda that would, among other things, discuss the Kashmir question.

He said talks are in interest of both countries.

“Pakistan wants peace with India”. Pakistan is not engaged in arms race but we can not ignore neighbours arms build-up and will take whatever measures necessary to counter their arms build-up. “They are essential to resolve our differences, especially the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, and to avert the danger of any escalation”, he asserted. In his speech at the United Nations on Wednesday, Sharif described slain Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani as a young leader and said India is attaching pre-conditions for peace talks around Kashmir. This is an objective evaluation, not a partisan position, he asserted.

He reminded the Security Council of the promise it made in its resolutions to grant right of self-determination to Kashmiris which, he said, was a legitimate demand and Pakistan fully supported this genuine cause. Their struggle is a legitimate one for liberation from alien occupation, he added.

The world also knows that Pakistan has indulged in ethnic cleansing of its own people (read Balochistan), he said, adding that the people of Pakistan are paying the price for such action of the government.

Sharif also demanded an independent inquiry into the “extra-judicial killings” and a United Nations fact finding mission to investigate alleged brutalities perpetrated by the Indian forces, “so that those guilty of these atrocities are punished”.

The Prime Minister also extended support to the demands of Kashmiri people for self determination and called on the UN Security Council to hold free and fair plebiscite. “The Security Council must honour its commitments by implementing its own decisions”, he said.

Sharif mentioned Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani, whose killing on July 8 sparked off unrest in the Kashmir Valley leading to the loss of almost 90 lives, terming him a “young leader” and the symbol of the Kashmiri unrest.

In his speech, Sharif is likely to refer to the recent speech by PDP MP from Kashmir Tariq Hameed Karra who described life in Kashmir “worse than under Nazi rule”, and demand that Kashmiris to be allowed to “freely decide their future through the United Nations mandated plebiscite”.

Nawaz Sharif regretted that the indigenous uprising of the Kashmiris has been met, as usual, with brutal repression by India’s occupation force of over half a million soldiers.

“These Indian brutalities are well documented”, asserted Nawaz.

Ban’s remarks came as Sharif handed over to him a dossier containing evidence of alleged human rights violations by Indian forces in Kashmir. He welcomed the statement of China on the atrocities being committed in the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.Prime Minister said that Pakistan was committed to regional peace and stability. “From Srinagar to Sopore, men, women and children were coming out everyday defying curfew”, he said.
