Sharif accused India of putting “unacceptable” conditions on dialogue with Pakistan and said the world would ignore the dangers of rising tensions in South Asia at its own peril.
“Even today we have heard support by the Prime Minister of Pakistan for a self-acknowledged commander of a known terrorist organisation”, she said. He said that Pakistan wants dialogue with India to resolve the Kashmir dispute, but categorically stated that dialogue is not a favor to Pakistan, but in the interest of both the countries.
Pakistan is in complete denial of of its complicity in Sunday’s cross-border terror attack on an army base at Uri in Jammu and Kashmir in which 18 Indian soldiers lost their lives, India said after Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif did not mention a word of the incident in his address at the 71st Session of the UN General Assembly in NY. “This not acceptable”, Swarup said.
Akbar emphasised that Islamabad’s consistent use of war and terrorism has been at the cost of development of the people of Pakistan, adding that the people there are paying the price of a malevolent policy. “We will not allow externally sponsored terrorism and efforts of destabilisation to cause turbulence in Pakistan”.
While addressing at the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Sharif said, “Burhan Wani, the young leader murdered by Indian forces, has emerged as the symbol of the latest Kashmiri Intifada, a popular and peaceful freedom movement, led by Kashmiris”.
