The resolution on terror would be separate from the main Summit declaration, officials said.
“We stand united in strongly condemning the awful acts of terrorism in Paris”, he said. “We have ambitious plans for addressing the challenges of climate change”, he said.
Narendra Modi, at a meeting of the BRICS leaders on the sideline of the G20 Summit in Turkey, made a case for a united global effort to combat the menace of terrorism. Earlier speaking at the BRICS leaders’ meeting on the sidelines of the G20 Summit, he said, “The need for a united global effort to combat terrorism has never been more urgent”.
Modi said India attached the highest importance to BRICS. Modi also raised the issue of new conditions being proposed by multilateral agencies which India says will push up the cost of loans and hurt development.
Besides Modi, BRICS meeting is being attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, South African President Jacob Zuma and Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff.
Modi also said the theme of India’s BRICS chairmanship will be “Building Responsive, Inclusive and Collective Solutions” which, in short, will be “BRICS”. “It aptly describes the ethos of our group”, he added.
