India claims diplomatic victory over Pakistan in UN
Several Baloch and Indian activists held large-scale demonstrations outside the UN headquarters here while Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif addressed the UN General Assembly as they were joined by other groups demanding that it stop “exporting” terror into India.

Nawaz Sharif had in his speech maintained that Pakistan wants peace with India but it is “not possible without resolving the Kashmir issue”. He called on the global body to launch a probe into the killings in the restive region, and said the United Nations has to honour its own commitments on Kashmir.
India rejected Sharif’s remarks in a statement to the UN General Assembly from Eenam Gambhir, a senior diplomat at its UN mission.
Causing another major embarrassment for Pakistan, the US Secretary of State John Kerry has asked the alleged sponsors of the Uri terror attack to take action against the perpetrators and snubbed its rant for Kashmir, giving India the much needed support for isolating Pakistan internationally.
“With the approval of authorities, many terrorist organisations raise funds openly in flagrant violation of Pakistan’s global obligations”, Gambhir said. She added that the country carried out “war crimes” through its “long-standing policy” of sponsoring terrorism.
Pakistan is a peaceful country and peaceful neighbourhood is the vision of the Prime Minister, he added.
September 22 (ANI): Cutting across party lines, the Shiv Sena and Congress on Thursday criticised Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for his “ridiculous and frivolous” statement glorifying slain Hizbul Mujahideeen commander Burhan Wani and said that the hostile neighbour was doing nothing but making a mockery of itself. The issue brought out unity in the Indian Polity and leaders from all the political parties slammed Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan.
“We are confident that an already wary worldwide community has seen through Pakistan’s vile designs”, he said. Although this promise has yet to be realised seven decades later, time has not weakened their resolve nor their aspirations.

“The Security Council has called for the exercise of the right to self-determination by the people of Jammu and Kashmir through a free and fair plebiscite held under the United Nations auspices”.

Minister of State for External Affairs MJ Akbar, who was at the UNGA, said at a press conference, “We just heard a speech full of threat bluster and rising immaturity and complete disregard of facts”.
