India condemns terrorist attack in Turkey

Kobani had come under repeated assault from Islamic State and had been a rallying point for Turkey’s Kurdish minority, who have been enraged by what they see as the refusal of President Tayyip Erdogan to intervene in a conflict played out within clear sight of Turkish military positions, the Reuters report said.

It has emerged that one of the women in the viral image, Çağla Seven, 27, sustained serious injuries but survived the bombing that claimed the life of her friend, lying beside her.

CHP deputies submitted a separate motion on Wednesday, proposing three days of mourning for the 32 people killed in the Suruc attack as a sign of national unity.

Local newspaper Hurriyet called the image “the photo that marked the day”.

Seven, a newly qualified doctor, lived after being airlifted to a hospital in the Turkish capital of Istanbul, but her unidentified friend later died.

Television footage showed bodies lying beneath trees outside a cultural centre in the mostly Kurdish town six miles from the stricken Syrian town of Kobane. Her heart also had stopped beating.

It is understood SAS counter-terrorism experts based in southern Turkey have examined the site.

“It has become an obligation for the parliament to thoroughly look into the terrorist bomb attack in Suruc and other terror acts in Adiyaman and Ceylanpinar”, it added.

“We, as AK Party (…) are aware of responsibility to not leave Turkey without a government”, said Kurtulmus.

The Association of British Travel Agents said: “Holidaymakers should be aware Turkey is a large country with tourist resorts being hundreds of miles from the Syrian border”.
