India Invites Tesla To Set Up Plant
Gadkari has offered Tesla land around major ports and proposed joint ventures with local automobile manufacturers to promote electric vehicles.

The minister pitched the idea of India to the world’s leading electric auto manufacturing company and that how the country could be its centralized manufacturing hub for whole of the globe.
Replying to specific queries from Gadkari regarding manufacture of electric trucks, buses and two-wheelers, the Tesla team said that while they have future plans for trucks and pick-up vans, buses and two-wheelers are not on the cards.
India has intention of having a good relations with Pakistan, but the “importing” of terror is a big issue, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has said. After Gadkari visited Tesla, he narrated his experience to our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is keen to know how batteries and solar panels could be the future of electricity generation for India, particularly in rural areas.
Senior executives at Tesla admitted that their manufacturing hub has to be outside the United States to tap markets in the rest of the world and appreciated the Indian offer of cooperation, which they said will certainly be considered at the appropriate time in the future.
Also on Thursday, Consumer Reports magazine called on the company not only to deactivate its Autopilot steering technology, which is being scrutinized by two usa government agencies, but also overhaul it and rebrand it. The magazine went as far as calling on Tesla to “stop referring to the system as “Autopilot”, as it is misleading and potentially dangerous”. These are located at restaurants, Wifi hot spots and shopping centres and charge Tesla in minutes, rather than hours. At present there are 671 supercharger stations across the USA with 4,089 superchargers in total.
