India, Japan sign pact for bullet train
In his remarks at the event, the Prime Minister emphasized that he wanted India and Japan to move ahead together, not just in the sphere of high-speed trains, but also for “high-speed growth”.

The agreement, featuring broad shapes of cooperation in the nuclear field, was signed after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abeheld the ninth yearly Indo-Japan top talks in New Delhi. Youth will be the direct beneficiaries of these agreements as apart from jobs created, 10,000 youngsters will also visit Japan in the next five years, said a statement by BJP national secretary Shrikant Sharma.
Following Saturday’s understanding, it is expected that Japan will soon take up production of US-2 amphibious aircraft, 15 of which are reportedly to be purchased by India. In the meeting it was decided that Japan would help to build India’s first bullet train network between Mumbai- Ahmedabad costing of around Rs. 98000 crores.

His comments follow an announcement in October by Maruti Suzuki India, the market leader in India, that it will export its Baleno model to Japan.

Japan was among the countries that imposed economic and financial sanctions when India conducted nuclear tests in 1998 and has always been concerned about India’s refusal to sign a series of global treaties, including the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
