India, Malaysia to deepen defence cooperation
Meanwhile, Modi said he was grateful for the security cooperation with Malaysia as it underlined shared commitment to deal with security challenges.

Prime Minister Modi also highlighted India’s bilateral security partnership with Malaysia and said that both sides worked closely to keep the citizens safe.
Malaysia and India are keen to promote greater cooperation in traditional medicine ayurveda and expand the development and usage of ayurveda, one of the world’s oldest holistic healthcare systems, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.
“The inauguration of Torana Gate shows India-Malaysia ties are not only economical but also cultural”.
Reiterating both India’s as well as his close personal ties with the Republic, PM Modi said few nations in the world can celebrate its first 50 years of existence with the sense of pride and satisfaction that Singapore can and deserves to.
“The Indian government is also inviting Malaysian investors to participate in economic activities following new developmental and business initiatives undertaken by India”.
He called for a new global resolve to combat terrorism, without balancing it against political considerations, and said no country should use or support terrorism. Trade, urban and skill development, defence co-operation and cyber security are expected to be high on his agenda during the Singapore visit.
Delivering a lecture, he talked about how India and China have kept their border region peaceful and stable despite the “unresolved issues”, including the boundary question between the two countries.
“We intend to exploit the full potential of our bilateral agreements and the India-ASEAN Agreements”.
Lauding Malaysia’s competence in infrastructure, Modi said that the two countries are looking to have stronger bonds in terms of investments.
Prime Minister Modi further said global leadership flows from the power of thought and not just from the orthodox measures of strength.
Now, as we build the India of our dreams, said the Prime Minister, Singapore is already a major partner in that enterprise – world class human resources, smart cities, clean rivers, clean energy, or next generation sustainable infrastructure. “We look forward to an early conclusion of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement”, he said.
