A joint statement issued by the two sides after delegation-level talks said foreign ministers of the two nations would lead their respective delegations at the next meeting of the joint commission.

The gift was announced by former Indian Prime Minister Manhoman Singh during his visit to Malaysia in October 2010.

Modi did not name any country but appeared to be alluding to Pakistan, long blamed by India for harbouring terror groups. We exercise together in air and on land and sea.

Razak described the gate as a logo of India-Malaysia friendship. “I welcome the commitment to de-link religion from terrorism and efforts to promote human values that define every faith”, Modi said.

India and Malaysia on Monday agreed to deepen defence and security cooperation and expand bilateral trade while signing three accords in the areas of cyber security, culture and infrastructure.

Warning that terrorism is the “biggest threat” to the world, Modi had yesterday said it should be delinked from religion.

“We hope to achieve the same on our path to modernity and economic development”, he said. “The Malaysian-Indian community forms a very special and strong bond between us”.

Stating that the message of Lord Buddha reverberated across Asia, Modi said the newly inaugurated Torana gate was a milestone in India’s relations with Malaysia.

Prime Minister Modi wants Malaysian businesses to invest in India’s 100 Smart Cities projects. He said India is at present the fastest growing major economy in the world.

Najib said the Malaysian government will take necessary actions to recognise more degree programmes from India especially in Information Technology (IT) and engineering.

Modi said, “We have built a vibrant economic partnership”.

He added that India will work with Malaysian government for setting up of war memorial for the Indian soldiers at the site of Battle of Kampar in Perak in Malaysia.
