India, Myanmar agree to maintain border peace, security

In a statement to media houses the Myanmar based outfit stated that army intruded one and half hour walking distance into Naga Myanmar area after crossing Thorloi the first border village. He said he saw about 30 commandos when they returned, adding, “This makes a platoon”.

This comes on the eve of Minister of External Affair Sushma Swaraj’s visit to Myanmar.

In an email sent to the Hindustan Times on Saturday, the NSCN (K) too claimed the encounter took place inside Myanmar. The army refused to confirm any reports of casualties.

Militants were trying to enter the country, went back leaving many weapons.

In March last year, the NSCN-K ended a 14-year ceasefire to resume its secessionist war with India and has been involved in a series of attacks in tandem with other militant groups in the Northeast under the banner of “United Liberation Front of South East Asia”. The army denied launching any such operation.
