India, Pakistan NSAs discuss Pathankot incident
Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a call on Tuesday from his Pakistani counterpart Muhammad Nawaz Sharif regarding the terrorist attack on the Pathankot airbase.

India has already given “specific and actionable information” to Pakistan on the involvement of militants in Pakistan in the attack, it said.
The air force base is spread out about 1600 acres and the Indian security forces went busy sanitizing the whole area thoroughly so that there was no further threat from the terrorists.
The Shiv Sena in its mouthpiece said Pakistan has destroyed India’s credibility by sending the terrorists to Pathankot. He also noted that Pakistan too was a victim of terrorism as scores of Pakistani soldiers as well as innocent citizens have been killed.
The United Jihad Council – a coalition of militant groups fighting Indian rule in Kashmir – has claimed responsibility.
During a media briefing on Monday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said, “We condemn this attack…”
“The attack is a message by Mujahideen (militants) that no sensitive installation of India is out of our reach”, said UJC spokesman Syed Sadaqat Hussain in a statement, a copy of which was seen by Reuters.
When asked about possible Pakistani connections, Parrikar said, “There are some indications that some of the material seized was made in Pakistan”. Though the gunfight inside the airbase has stopped, the operation to clear the base is ongoing since then.
“In line with Pakistan’s commitment to effectively counter and eradicate terrorism, the government is in touch with the Indian government and is working on the leads provided by it”, the statement added.

The attackers had crossed over from Pakistan and the Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed may be responsible, according to India’s Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi. “Leaders of both the countries had not given any controversial statement regarding the Pathankot attack”, he added. Six terrorists were eliminated during the encounter with the security forces.
