‘India, Pakistan should decide pace,scope of talks on Kashmir’

The Army on Monday foiled a major infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of Kashmir and killed 5 terrorists. Encouraged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s supportive words, leaders of the Baloch nationalist movement in America have sought support from the United States and European countries against the oppressive Pakistani regime.

The party seemed to be distancing itself from former External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid’s statement yesterday in which he said raising Balochistan on India’s independence day was a self-defeating exercise. He also pointed out that Pakistan was facing the consequences of its policy of encouraging terrorism.

Pakistan termed Prime Minister Modi’s Independence Day speech as an attempt to divert world attention from growing unrest in Jammu and Kashmir.

“India should recognize that the core issue of Kashmir can not be resolved by bullets”.

“Its leaders are seen to be supporting Pakistan.It is obvious that the country is supporting Modi on his comments on Balochistan and PoK”, Singh said.

The BRP leader said that the people of Balochistan couldn’t be forced to negotiate at gunpoint.

The Congress reiterated that India should raise the issue of human rights violations in Balochistan and gave three instances when the Manmohan Singh-led UPA had condemned atrocities committed by Pakistan. Ten government troops were also wounded.

Congress – the main opposition party in the Parliament asked the government to raise the issue of atrocities in Balochistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in bilateral meetings with Pakistan and in front of global forums.

Claiming that Modi’s “flip-flops” on Pakistan have become legendary, he said suddenly the Prime Minister and his government have started speaking in a different language without following up on the issue of punishing the perpetrators of terror attacks in Pathankot, Udhampur and Pampore.

Surjewala said the Prime Minister should immediately take stock of the alarming situation in Kashmir and provide the much required healing touch.
