India punished for shunning DRS: Dhoni
India captain MS Dhoni has reaffirmed his opposition to the Decision Review System and added – with a smile on his face – that tight decisions “may” go against India due to their opposition to the system.

What Dhoni didn’t say then was that he was looking more at providing cover for his quick bowlers, with the unspoken faith in the spin duo of R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja to keep their ends relatively safe. If it’s given out, it needs to touch the stump, if it’s not out then half the ball needs to hit the stump. They played a few big shots but also rotated the strike really well.
“I believe the batsmen batted very well because there is less the help of the message. But still, on a pitch like this, I felt 309 was a very good score”. He hit the best places, that we feel is essential. “Other than that the fast bowlers bowled really well”. They kept on getting were getting more than six runs an over. Dhoni replied, “I may agree with you”.
“We’ll also have to see in the coming games when there is pressure on him right from the start — if the batsmen are set, if he is put under pressure in the first circle regulation itself — then we’ll have to see how he bowls.
“You need to say this is what DRS is”. So they will be against DRS until this problem is not solved.
All of the periods, when 100-110 is crossed by Rohit, he scores large and that is usually great.
“Now you have to also take in to account whether it was given not out or out. He batted very well and it’s important that after a good start he does well in the whole series and carries this form forward”, Dhoni said. We’re able to have set more stress in it if we’d bowled somewhat better but which was false.
Earlier in the day, Bailey scored a game turning century having survived a caught-behind appeal for gloving the first ball down the leg side.
Hot spot showed the ball tickled Bailey’s glove on the way through, and snicko strengthened the evidence.
“Now for example you take DRS in an lbw decision – what really changes everything is whether the decision was given in favour or not and it can mean a margin of one inch and in cricket that’s very big”.
“It could have (changed the outcome of game) but, at the same time, we need to push the umpires to make the right decision and you have to see how many 50-50 decisions don’t go in our favor and it always happens”.
Talk of an umpiring conspiracy against India due to their intransigence towards the DRS has been rubbished, with the tourists told they could “scream as much as they want” but had to live with bad calls while they continue to oppose technology. “First DRS should ideally be the decision-making system”, he said.
Dhoni said, “I may agree with you”, when he was asked by a reporter whether he felt India was being punished in 50-50 decisions for their opposition to DRS usage.
While Dhoni went up in appeal, the bowler was not fully convinced and umpire Richard Kettleborough ruled it in favour of the batsman. “And in cricket, every inch matters — not even inches, it’s millimeters that matter. “If you see the deviations in DRS, there are quite a few deviations, even the makers agree that there’s a bit of deviation that can happen. It should be giving the right decision”, he added.
