India says all 6 militants killed in air base siege

In response, Modi emphasised on Pakistan to take firm and immediate action against individuals responsible or terrorists linked to Pathankot airbase attack.

Lashing out at the Centre in the wake of the Pathankot terror strike, the Shiv Sena on Tuesday said it had warned Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to trust Pakistan and that time has now come for him to focus on India rather than trying to unite the world. He added that the four-day-old operation to secure the compound was still under way and “might be finished by tomorrow”.

Unfortunately, just eight days after Modi had departed Lahore, six unidentified militants struck the Indian Air Force Station at Pathankot, in northern Punjab.

“Pathankot air base attack has been carried out by the mujahideen associated with National Highway Squad”, a spokesman for UJC Syed Sadaqat Hussain said.

New Delhi accuses Islamabad of supporting insurgency in Indian-controlled Kashmir. Pakistan denies the claim.

Questioning Narendra Modi’s NDA government’s “inconsistent” Pakistan policy, AAP on January 05, 2016 attacked the Narendra Modi-led dispensation over the Pathankot attack and asked why the government could not avert loss of soldiers’ lives when it had “pinpointed” information about the plot. “What do you? If you don’t talk, this is where you come to a dead end of diplomacy”, says Muni.

Seven Indian troops were also killed in the attack.

“The two prime ministers showed resolve to fight out terrorism together through mutual cooperation”, said Pakistan in a statement, adding Pakistan will investigate in detail leads and information provided by India.

The apparently well-planned assault on a strategic military target has cast a shadow over efforts to improve relations between India and Pakistan. I suggested that “unforeseen events, including a major terrorist attack on Indian soil by Pakistan-based terrorists” could derail talks. “The combing and search operations still continue”, the officer from the National Security Guard (NSG), a special forces unit, told journalists on condition of anonymity.

“Living in the same region and with a common history, the two countries should remain committed to a sustained dialogue process”.

The United Jehad Council said that by accusing Pakistan of every attack, India neither succeeded in maligning the Kashmir freedom struggle nor would it gain anything in the future. Interestingly, Sharif expressed appreciation for maturity shown by Indian leaders in their statements after the attack. The government also claims very proudly that it had information about this.
