India shines a solar alliance at Paris climate summit
The stakeholders felt the solar alliance can be a platform to scale up access to energy in developing countries, but they also raised the issue of funding. We will provide land and contribute approximately 30 million USA dollars to build the Secretariat infrastructure.

A number of companies have also signed on to work with the alliance.
He also reiterated his programme “Ek Bharat Shreshtra Bharat”, adding that there were many reasons to be divided, but Indians should look for reasons to be united.
This is why this alliance is so important. Anything else would be morally wrong; and disparities, said Modi.
“We can no longer accept this paradox that those who have the most potential for solar energy have only a small share of solar electricity”, Hollande told delegates.
We will cooperate on training and building institutions. “We will succeed if we have the wisdom to craft a collective partnership that balances responsibilities and capabilities”, Prime Minister Modi said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held a brief meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif as world leaders converged in Paris for the start of the Conference of Parties (CoP) climate summit.
The alliance, which is open to all countries located fully or partly between the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, is to function from the National Institute of Solar Energy in Gurgaon, on the outskirts of New Delhi.
According to the federal U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), about 11% of world marketed energy consumption is from renewable energy sources (biofuels, biomass, geothermal hydropower, solar and wind) with a projection for 15% by 2040.
Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg, the founders of Microsoft and Facebook, have also launched the breakthrough energy coalition, an investment platform that will fund clean energy technology.
His government has outlined measures such as a plan to add 175 GW of renewable energy by 2022 as well as development strategy that will enable India to transition to a more sustainable energy mix.
As part of another commitment, 19 countries, including the USA, pledged $20bn for clean energy research, with the money to be disbursed in the next five years.
I am delighted with the industry response. That is natural climate justice.
“This day is the sunrise of new hope not just for clean energy, but for villages and homes still in darkness; and for our mornings and evenings filled with a clear view of the glory of the sun”, he said.

“By 2030, we will reduce carbon emissions intensity per unit GDP by 33-35 percent of 2005 levels, and 40 percent of our installed capacity will be from non- fossil fuels”, Modi said at the Paris Climate Meet in Paris, France. “The world must turn to #solar, the power of our future”.
