Ahead of the Wembly event, Modi and Cameron met business leaders in Downing Street.
Modi said economic ties are extremely important elements of the relationship between countries. “I will say “Acche Din zaroor aayega”.
Referring to India having 800 million people below 35 years, he said “a country which has so many youth can not stay behind”.
Cameron said Modi’s visit cemented a “modern, dynamic partnership” between the world’s fifth-largest economy – Britain – and India, which will soon rank third.
The two main challenges facing the world today are terrorism and global warming. We are working hard to create conducive conditions for this engagement. An estimated 50,000 to 60,000 people were present at the event, according to the organizers.
He said: “They see in prime minister Modi, especially after his tremendous election result previous year, a man that is filled with hope and aspiration and somebody who is decisive”.
“Earlier, Britain’s Prime Minister David Cameron greeted the assembled audience with a “Namaste” which drew loud cheers and followed up with another greeting “‘kem cho'(How are you?) Wembley” in Gujarati. The Prime Minister spoke of his Government’s initiatives so far, and of his plans especially on Swachh Bharat and Clean Energy, to transform the lives of India’s citizens. He renewed his pitch for India getting a permanent seat in the UN Security Council. “If they want to associate then with a win-win formula, if they want to advance then shoulder to shoulder and this to me is the sign of a bright future”, he added.
His speech was broadcast on Indian television as well.
Narendra Modi is due to speak at Wembley Stadium. Modi is on a roll here in the UK.
While Bollywood singer Alisha Chinai commemorated Modi’s Make In India campaign, actor Kanika Kapoor sang a number on the event’s theme, “Two glorious nations, one glorious future”.

Modi said India’s rankings had improved in ease of doing business and in fighting corruption. “This image of a relationship cemented by cricket, Shakespeare, Madame Tussauds and a joint liking for a good curry is not entirely false, but it is misleading”.
