The Indian cricket team was dislodged as the top Twenty20 side and also dropped a rung to fourth in the ODI charts of the latest ICC rankings following the annual update. After a series of poor results culminating in the first-round exit from the ICC World T20 last March, the 2009 World T20 champions have crashed to seventh place from the third position they held when the annual rankings were last updated.
The annual rankings have undergone a change with 2012-13 results not being considered and outcomes from 2014-15 counting for 50 per cent.

Pakistan were briefly ranked ninth after losing to 0-3 to Bangladesh in April 2015, but managed to reach eighth before being knocked back once more in the ICC’s annual worldwide rankings released on Wednesday. The next edition of the global event is set to be a 10-team affair with the top seven-ranked teams – the ranking cut-off for which is August 31, 2017 – along with hosts England gaining automatic qualification.
Despite their win in the 2016 ICC World T20, West Indies have slipped to the third spot with 122 points while South Africa (119 points) and England (114 points) slot in the fourth and fifth places respectively. This is due to their victories against England, Australia, New Zealand and Pakistan in 2012-13 not under calculations anymore.
