The Indian said Ali, in a letter addressed to the Pakistan high commissioner, had requested legal aid and assistance to meet his family.

The demarche made specific reference to Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist and Pakistan national Bahadur Ali who was apprehended recently by security forces after a fierce gunbattle in Kashmir.
A day after Balochistan Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti accused Indian spy agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) of masterminding the suicide attack at Quetta Civil Hospital, India summoned Pakistan High Commissioner in New Delhi Abdul Basit to lodge a protest against “continuing cross-border terrorism from Pakistan”.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit was on Tuesday summoned by Indian foreign secretary S. Jaishankar after a strong demarche was issued by India on the incessant cross border terrorism by Pakistan.
“We are prepared to grant the Pakistan High Commission consular access to Bahadur Ali”, the demarche concluded.
The LeT terrorist was arrested on July 25 with a range of weapons like an AK 47 rifle, grenades, a grenade launcher, live rounds, etc. Communication equipment from Pakistan and of worldwide origin were also recovered from him, the démarche added.
Abdul Basit said that the allegations being leveled by India on Pakistan were baseless.
Ali has also confessed that he infiltrated into India after receiving training in Lashkar-e-Taiba camps.
India accuses Pakistan of fomenting an Islamist insurgency in Indian-administered Kashmir, a charge Pakistan denies.
India-Pakistani relations have been tense for more than a year.
The Indian Government’s tersely worded demarche also comes in the wake of Pakistan’s critical statements made on Kashmir over the past month.
