India tells its diplomats to withdraw kids from Islamabad school

According to a report in the Daily Times, over 60 school children of Indian diplomats in Pakistan would not resume their classes from the next quarter under the recent decision taken by New Delhi for multiple reasons.

In a statement, the spokesman of Indian External Affairs Ministry Vikas Swarup said the officials of Indian High Commission in Pakistan have been asked to make the arrangements of their kids’ schooling in any other country.

Forty six people have been killed and more 5,000 wounded, including Indian security forces, since protests erupted after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani on July 8.

In the wake of Sharif’s remark at an election rally in Muzaffarabad in Pak-occupied Kashmir (PoK) that Kashmir will become a part of Pakistan one day, Sushma said the former was “delusional” in thinking so. Since the attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar in 2014, the Indian authorities have been planning to declare Pakistan a “No School Going Mission”.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said the move is based on prevailing security situation in Pakistan and potential threat to the children of Indian staff members in Pakistan schools.

India is particularly upset with Pakistan calling for a “black day” last week to protest India’s handling of the demonstrations.

Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh visited Kashmir over the weekend, following street battles between government forces and protesters in the Muslim-majority region. “No other considerations were communicated to us”, the PTI quoted Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria as saying in Islamabad. “You will never be able to make this heaven on earth a haven for terrorists”, she said, while lambasting Pakistani leaders for giving very irresponsible statements about Jammu and Kashmir.

Muhammet Balta, Member of Turkish Parliament from Trabzon and Chairman of Turkey-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group, in his speech, said Turkey supports Pakistan’s stance since 1947. Much to India’s chagrin, it then tried to internationalise the Kashmir issue by raising it at the high-level thematic debate on human rights at the United Nations on July 14.

The downgrading may further strain the diplomatic relationship between both countries.

The Bar members also described the visit of Home Minister of India to Kashmir as an “eye wash, just to mislead” the global community in believing that the Indian Government is very much concerned about the Kashmiri people, “which they are not”, a statement issued by Bar said this afternoon.
