In a statement issued by PTI’s media office here on Thursday, Khan expressed his concern at the “lukewarm response” of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his government to the Indian action in held Kashmir.

Upping the ante, Pakistan on Thursday described slain Hizbul commander Burhan Wani and other militants as people “fighting for freedom” and accused Indian security forces of committing “state-terrorism” in Kashmir.

At least 37 people were killed – nearly all shot by Indian security forces – and more than 1,500 people wounded in the worst violence in Kashmir since 2010, underlining how the crackdown on militants is not enough to solve a conundrum that has frustrated India since independence in 1947. “…the Secretary-General’s good offices on any issues is a standing offer for anything that is going on, but good offices work when two parties both ask for the good offices”, he said.

In his statement, which sources here termed as perhaps the hardest-hitting against Pakistan in recent times, Akbaruddin said Pakistan “extols” the virtues of terrorists and could not gain membership of the UN’s human rights body because of its “track record”. While shunning its obstinacy, India needs to sit together with the Pakistani and Kashmiri leadership to find a just solution to the dispute.

“…We have seen an attempt at misuse of this United Nations platform”. Pakistan will continue political, diplomatic and moral support of Kashmiris till the achievement of right of self determination by Kashmiris. Mobile and internet services also remained suspended. India has long demanded Islamabad arrest Saeed. “Pakistan will keep on sensitizing this issue before worldwide community to resolve it”. Being the super power, greater responsibility rests with the U.S. not to shy away from the resolution of this disputed territory as the peace in the region is directly linked with its just solution. The brutalities on innocent unarmed Kashmiris are the violations of human rights.

He refused to comment on the issue of recent deaths in Kashmir and United Nations resolution on the Kashmir issue. The killing of Burhan Wani in Jammu Kashmir could be the turning point in the struggle of Kashmiris for independence. Kashmiris were looking towards peaceful settlement of the dispute but Modi Government has pushed them to the wall and they are now up in arms against Indian occupation.
