India will respond at place, time of choosing: Army on Uri attack
On a day that saw emotions running high as numerous 18 soldiers who died in the September 18 attack were bid farewell with military honors in various parts of the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi summoned a meeting of senior ministers and military and security advisers to formulate an appropriate response.

Though the Indian Army has elaborate plans in place for strikes against jihadist camps and military infrastructures, it was reported that Pakistan has heavily fortified its position following the attack in Uri making a counter-attack very risky.
The army also said it has the desired capability to respond to any blatant acts of aggression and violence as deemed appropriate by us.
“The Army operations have been called off after conducting a detailed search of the area in and around the military complex at Uri”, Lt. Gen. Ranbir Singh, Director-General, Military Operations, (DGMO), announced at a media briefing.
The four terrorists who were gunned down after the attack were said to be “foreigners”.
Pakistan’s latest statement said that the situation in Indian-administered Kashmir was “not of Pakistan’s making but a direct effect of illegal Indian occupation and a long history of atrocities”. They were foiled, leaving 110 terrorists dead.
Ties between the two have been tense in recent times, with efforts to kick-start a stalled peace dialogue ending in January this year following a terror attack on an Indian Air Force base in Pathankot.
The sources said the broad thinking was that India must act without getting into the trap of emotions and anger after taking into account both the short- and long-term implications.
According to a report in The Indian Express, Modi has asked the agencies to collect all evidence to prove Pakistan’s involvement in the attack which could be effectively used in worldwide forums to isolate Pakistan.
“Everything is in front of the people”. “It is time for the US to take a serious look at the foreign military assistance to Pakistan and how those resources are being diverted to cross-border terrorism and other nefarious activities”, said Indian National Overseas Congress, USA.
At a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, India took the decision to “diplomatically isolate” Pakistan at all global fora, The Times of India reported.
#UriAttacks was trending on Twitter in India for much of Sunday and Monday, with many calling for action against Pakistan.
“Four terrorists killed in counterterrorist operation at Uri”. Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared after the killings that the perpetrators won’t go unpunished.

“Pakistan’s armed forces together with our resilient nation have surmounted every challenge and will thwart any sinister design against the integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan in future as well”, the statement quoted the army chief as saying.
