Indian citizenship for exiled Baloch leaders soon a reality
A Baloch Republican Party official said, “We will use Indian papers to travel around the world to campaign against Pakistan and to highlight our case”.

Bugti fled his native Dera Bugtin Balochistan after his grandfather Akbar Bugti was assassinated in 2006. A 16-member delegation from the BPR has called for a meeting in Geneva between September 18 and September 19 to decide on Brahumdagh Bugti’s asylum in India. It will help Brahumdagh and his colleagues as well.
The report says that there is a feeling in the BRP camp that if India can give shelter to Dalai Lama despite opposition from a powerful country like China then there should be no problem for Brahumdagh Bugti. “Brahumdagh would like all these people accommodated along with his own case”, the BNP source told Geo News.
In a news that will no doubt annoy Pakistan, it has been learnt that Baloch leader Brahumdagh Bugti who has exiled by Pakistan will soon get Indian citizenship. Around 2,000 are in various countries including European countries. He added that they had “no other option” and that they did not care what their opponents thought of their support for Modi. Their asylum applications have been either approved or are in process.

His statement followed a huge backlash from both the Pakistani government and people of Balochistan for deliberately mentioning Balochistan in his speech. Bugti has openly lauded Modi’s statements on Balochistan and has also demanded for a referendum for the people of the region, overseen by the United Nations. He has also urged the global community including the US, NATO countries, Israel and India, to help Balochi leaders fight their cause, both politically and militarily. Pakistani officials said the Indian prime minister was trying to hide the atrocities committed by Indian security forces in occupied Kashmir by bracketing the situation in the Valley with Balochistan, which, unlike occupied Kashmir, was not a disputed territory. On India’s Independence Day, Modi seemingly hit back by raising the issue of Balochistan and the manner in which the Pakistani state treats Baloch activists and separatists. We want freedom of Pakistan. “We believe that India should have taken this step a long time ago”, he had said.
