Instead of several allegations made by the researcher of multiple sexual harassment, Pachauri was elevated to a newly created post of the Executive Vice Chairman in TERI, in February this year.

Delhi Police had on March 1 filed an over 1,400-page charge sheet in the court against Pachauri under Sections 354-A (sexual harassment), 354-B (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe), 354-D (stalking), 509 (word, gesture or act meant to insult the modesty of a woman) and 341 (wrongful confinement) of the IPC. The Court has summoned Pachauri as an accused to put him to trial under six sections-354/354A/354B/354D/509/341 IPC. Pachauri, 75, has been charged with sexual harassment, stalking and criminal intimidation of the 29-year-old woman.

Pachauri was granted an anticipatory bail in the case on March 21 previous year.

The court fixed July 11 for further hearing. Printouts of which have been filed along with the charge-sheet.

Taking cognizance of charge sheet filed against ex-chief of TERI RK Pachauri, the court said that there is sufficient material to proceed.

Mr Pachauri was accused of sexually harassing a female colleague in 2015. Former Director of TERI, Pachauri’s contract with the organization was terminated last month by the Governing Council of TERI. A court in India’s capital says there’s enough evidence in a stalking and sexual harassment case for a former chairman of the U.N.’s climate body, Rajendra Pachauri, to stand trial. In May a year ago he was indicted by the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) on all charges leveled by the complainant in the in-house inquiry.
