After Kumar Sangakkaras retirement post the second Test, Sri Lanka will be without two of their most experience batsmen – Mahela Jayawardene is already retired – and Vijay opines that India will have the upperhand on that count.

Former Sri Lanka captain, Sanath Jayasuriya, feels that the upcoming home series against India, is very important for Sri Lankan cricket, given that they are going through a phase of transition.

Leg-spinner Amit Mishra has been recalled to the Indian Test team, joining a formidable slow-ball attack.

Times Internet’s mobile cricket news and information venture Cricbuzz has hopped on board as the title sponsor for the Sri Lanka vs India 2015 Test Series.

In a recent interview he said that the thing about first-class cricket when he started out was that it was much more competitive than now. “It’s going to be an exciting time as a team and for every individual because it’s going to test our character and will be challenging overall”, he said.

“With Mahela retired and Sangakkara about to (retire), there would be big hole in their batting line-up soon. Cricket is the defining sport in capturing consumer interest and through this engagement, we will look to exponentially increase our global visibility and footprint”, Cricbuzz chief executive Pankaj Chhaparwal said. Indians will play three Test matches and two T20 games on the tour.

“I think I have always been that way”, Vijay said when asked of his positive approach.

“Now with more opportunities in the team, I am really enjoying my game”. Keep it simple. I don’t like to go much deep into anything, I like doing my stuff and if it helps the team then I am going to do the same, he added.

The basic ideology behind Kohli’s 5-bowler theory is this: The management and Kohli himself believes that taking wickets is of utmost importance in test cricket and India can make do with Ashwin and Harbhajan as make-shift all-rounders in the playing XI. This is so because since 2013 Sri Lanka has played 9 test matches at home winning 4 of them, losing 3 and drawing only 2 which show that getting results on those pitches is not that hard.

” Every aspect has its own charm and challenges and as a player, one has to lift his game according to the situation.” he said. The first Test will take place in Galle starting August 12.
