A police officer who spoke on condition of anonymity said Mr Kumar had confessed to the “assault and murder of 14 or 15 children over the last few years”.

Ravinder Kumar, a 23-year-old bus cleaner, who was arrested last week from South Delhi on suspicion of killing a six-year-old girl, has made chilling revelations before the city police about how he lured children and his unending desire for sexual acts with corpses. After a search at the scene of the murder, the license led the police to the acquaintance in a hospital, and subsequently to Kumar.
For a person who is alleged to have been involved in the rape and murder of fifteen children and the subsequent sexual abuse of some of the dead bodies, it was a stolen driving license that led to his undoing. He is also said to have been influenced by a film “Maa” which showed an actor raping and murdering children.
Parents of the victims later said police had not taken them seriously when they initially reported their children missing because they were poor. The same year, he allegedly kidnapped another labourer’s child from Vijay Vihar – this time a boy – and sodomised him and then strangled him to death.
“After my first assault I did many others”. He also said that the trio tried to burn him alive but later escaped with Sunny’s bike, documents and driving license. He committed his first crime when he was barely 17. A case was registered, but Ravinder escaped due to lack of eyewitnesses.
As indicated by police, Kumar had also admitted to have committed two crimes in Kanjhawala and Mundka in 2011. “He would often strangulate them and rape them and run away to another place”, says a Delhi Police officer.
He even targeted two 14-year-old friends of a relative while visiting his aunt during a marriage ceremony in Aligarh in 2012. It is possible that he is involved in more such incidents where no records exist, they said.

Local police are trying to trace the family of these victims and verify all details provided by him.
