Indian officials lift curfew from most of Kashmir
The curfew was relaxed after a period of 51 days in most of the parts except southern town of Pulwama and two areas in Srinagar city Maharaj Gunj and Nowhatta.

They said that scores of people, including 60-year-old Sara Bano, were injured in the forces’ action and was shifted to Sub-district hospital Dooru for treatment.
“More than 8000 civilian protesters have been injured in the ongoing situation with almost 600 protesters suffering pellet injuries in their eyes”.
He also said that all political parties spoke in one voice on Kashmir, sending out a strong message to the world as well as separatists. He said the curbs were lifted following improvement in the situation.
Police said curfew will remain imposed only in Anantnag town while restrictions under section 144 of the CrPc (criminal procedure code) will continue in the rest of the Kashmir including Srinagar. Even as hundreds attended his funeral in Quil, sources said this was an attempt to demoralise police force dealing with the civil unrest in the Kashmir for over a month now.

The separatist camp has extended the strike call in the kashmir valley till 1st September.
Shops, private offices and petrol pumps remained closed today as well, while public transport continued to be off roads, the official said.
He said locals alleged that Shahnawaz Khatana had drowned in the river yesterday when security forces chased a group of stone-pelters in the area.
He said reports of clashes between stone-pelters and security forces were also received from Chadoora, Kremshora and Mazhama areas of Budgam district. “Greater movement of traffic and people was observed across the valley including the city Srinagar”, the spokesman added. Violent protests after Hizbul terrorist Burhan Wani’s killing had forced authorities to enforce the curfew for almost two months.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed for calm in the region at the weekend, criticizing those responsible for encouraging youngsters to become involved in the recent unrest. Both India and Pakistan claim the region which has been disputed since the 1947 partition of India and Pakistan, which British colonial rulers instituted as they departed.
