Also, confirming that inquiry has begun, Mumbai Police said, “Zakir Naik’s public documents, videos and social media posts are being examined”.

Addressing reporters here after a meeting of the leaders of the IUML, the Congress-led United Democratic Front’s second-biggest constituent, its Lok Sabha member E.T. Mohammed Basheer said that Naik is being hunted.

Digvijay Singh, who was seen praising Naik in the 2012 video, defended himself, saying if there was any evidence against the preacher, then the Indian and Bangladeshi governments should take action against him.

Indian government authorities are also examining the recordings of Zakir Naik, Islamic preacher and motivator of the Dhaka killers, before taking any action against him.

Islamic scholar Dr Zakir Naik on Friday faced probes by the Centre that covered foreign funding of his NGO Islamic Research Foundation(IRF) and the CDs of his speeches that were reported to have inspired some of the Dhaka attackers.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal had earlier said that intelligence agencies were investigating Dr. Naik as his activities appeared provocative. Col. Rathore said the Home Ministry has also been asked to keep a track and report to the I&B Ministry on any such broadcast.

“The ministry handling religious affairs will issue an advisory to imams of the country’s 300,000 masjids to come out positively in line with real Islamic ideology and denounce terrorism and extremism”.

Less than a week later, another terror attack – at the Sholakia Eidgah, in Kishoreganj, in central Bangladesh – claimed the lives of four people, including two policemen, as hundreds of thousands gathered for Eid prayers on Thursday morning at the country’s largest congregation.

Dhaka – The government on Sunday chose to ban shows of a Dubai-based private television channel that preaches Islam reportedly with misinterpretations by its controversial founder. “There is not a single talk of mine where I encouraged one to kill another, whether Muslim or non-Muslim”, Naik said.
