Indian tycoon guilty of murdering guard

Businessman Mohammed Nisham, whose Hummer pinned a security guard against a wall, crushing his ribs and most internal organs, was on Wednesday found guilty of murder by a Thrissur court.

Today the courts found him guilty and he has been convicted under Sec 302A, which is culpable homicide amounting to murder.

The prosecution today argued for maximum punishment of death sentence and a compensation of Rs 5 crore to the family of the 51-year-old security guard Chandrabose.

Because he was slow to open the gate to his flat Nisham, 38, allegedly assaulted Chandrabose.

Nisham is the son of beedi businessman Adakkaparambil Abdul Khadar. There have been acquisitions that he was being protected because of his political connections in the State.

The guard, who sustained serious injuries, died at a private hospital 18 days after the incident. The supreme court has already described the case as an illustration of how “the rich have become entirely egocentric and megalomaniacs” in rejecting a bail plea by the accused. He was fond of luxury cars and owned some premium imported cars including a Bentley and an Aston Martin.

Two months into the trial, the case suffered a setback as a key witness in the case Anoop, a security guard at Shobha Villas apartment, turned hostile, claiming on 26 October, that he had seen nothing.

According to Indian media reports, he has been named in a series of criminal cases involving allegations of violence.
