Indian woman killed in Haj stampede

“My father-in-law, his brother and his wife also fell down in the stampede, but they managed to get up quickly and escaped with minor injuries, ” he said.
The Telangana State Haj Committee stated that the family members of the victim have agreed to cremate her in Mecca.

As per reports 453 have been killed while another 719 others have been injured injured in the stampede, which took place on Street 204 of the camp city, a few kilometres east of Mecca, where pilgrims stay for several days during the climax of the haj.
Officials said that 5451 persons – 2963 from Telangana, 1819 from Andhra Pradesh, and 654 from Raichur, Bidar and Gulburga of Karnataka – have gone from Hyderabad to perform Haj this year.
The Khadim ul Hujjaj have been alerted to check all the tents in Mina, where the pilgrims from two states are put up.
The state government has opened a helpline to provide information to the relatives of the pilgrims. The helplines will work round-the-clock.
Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali has expressed grief over the tragedy.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed pain at the loss of lives in stampede in Mecca and conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased. Irfan Shareef, Assistant Executive Officer of AP HAj Committee said that all AP pilgrims are safe.
He asked minorities welfare secretary Omar Jaleel and special secretary in CMO Bhupal Reddy to provide all necessary assistance to the pilgrims. He also spoke to the relatives of the deceased pilgrims both in Saudi Arabia and in Hyderabad and consoled them.

Over 136,000 pilgrims from India will be performing Haj this year.
