The ultimate victor will be determined in a matchup between the US and Great Britain, two teams that have been playing exceptionally well in these Olympic Games.
Katie Bam scored two goals and helped the USA defeat India 3-0 Thursday night.
With 1:11 on the clock, Katelyn Falgowski steered the ball through a collection of defenders to Bam, who delivered a backhander into the netting.
The United States and Great Britain will go head-to-head on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. EDT. The tally marked the first shot of the game for either team.
The momentum appeared to turn in India’s favor two minutes later, but as soon as the International Hockey Federation’s 13th-ranked squad got on the board, the goal was erased as the shot hit India’s Preeti Dubey in the shoulder before crossing the goal line.
Gonzalez gave the USA some breathing room with 8:23 to play in the fourth when she buried a nice feed from Katie Reinprecht to cap the scoring on the day.
In a 6-1 win over Japan on Wednesday, a victory that clinched the quarterfinal berth, Penn Manor grad Jill Witmer scored her first goal of the Olympics.
From there it was all Team USA.
The Indian women’s hockey team were outclassed 3-0 by group leaders U.S. in their clash on Friday. India’s Rani Rampal hit the boards with a reverse hit during the first quarter, but the umpire declared it risky play and disallowed the goal.

The Americans got three penalty corners in the final quarter and put the Indian defense under severe pressure but they could not add any more goal.
