Indian wrestler Malik wins India’s first medal

Apart from this, as per sports policy of the state government, Sakshi Malik will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2.5 crore.

The festival is an initiative of Asian Business Exhibition and Conferences Ltd. and Sheru Classic.

As wrestler Sakshi Malik and shuttler PV Sindhu won bronze and silver medals, respectively, other sportspersons such as gymnast Dipa Karmakar, marathon runner OP Jaisha, woman golfer Aditi Ashok, rower Dattu Bhokanal, etc won hearts.

In a press release here today, she said, “They have done the nation proud”. The father of wrestler Sakshi Malik works in Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC).

Although the 23-year-old debutant from Tripura missed a bronze medal by a whisker, she managed to perform Tsukahara (14.866) in her first attempt before successfully executing unsafe Produnova vault (15.266) in her second attempt in the women’s individual vault final at the Rio Olympics.

Tendulkar also said he was eagerly waiting for P V Sindhu’s women’s singles final match against World No.1 Carolina Marin of Spain.

Lalita Babar also created history as she became the first Indian woman to qualify for the finals of 3000m steeplechase in the Olympics. It was a woman who made India look good with its first medal!
