Earlier this week, Lawson and the Houston Rockets agreed to a contract buy-out.

While the Ty Lawson experiment with the Houston Rockets blew up before it even really got off the ground, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical of Yahoo!

Lawson landed in Houston in exchange for four players in a move that was seen to address the point guard shortage that the Rockets had.

However, after a disappointing season when the Nuggets finished 12th in the Western Conference with a 30-52 record, he was traded to the Rockets last summer, together with a 2017 second-round pick, in exchange for Joey Dorsey, Nick Johnson, Kostas Papanikolaou, Pablo Prigioni, a 2016 first-round pick, and cash considerations.

The Indiana Pacers have put forward Chase Budinger on waivers. After finishing third in the National Basketball Association in assists last season at 9.6, Lawson averaged just 3.4 this season, the lowest total since his rookie season in 2009-10.

Because Lawson was waived before the March 1 playoff-eligibility deadline, he would be able to play in the postseason for in, which is now No. 7 in the Eastern Conference.

The 32-29 Pacers operate at the ninth-fastest pace in the league this season (per ESPN), which would easily suit Lawson’s style of play. They would be the seventh seed if the playoffs started today, but they are just one and a half games ahead of the Wizards, who are in ninth place.

Lawson should represent an upgrade over Young, but he has issues on and off the court. He was arrested twice in a period of six months because of it when he was still with the Nuggets.

It looks as though help may be on the way as the Pacers have emerged as the favorites to sign Ty Lawson.
