Indiana University’s Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity Suspended Amid Hazing Video

A fraternity at the University of Indiana has been suspended after video surfaced of what is purported to be a member being forced to perform oral sex on a woman as fellow members goad him on. It is not clear if either the man or the woman is consenting in the video.

The Indy Star reports Indiana University suspended the Alpha Tau Omega chapter in response to a viral video which appears to show a possible sexual assault taking place during a hazing ceremony.

However, ATO CEO Wynn Smiley said “this video speaks for itself” and was being investigated.

Officials with the university said that a video that showed alleged sexual misconduct by the fraternity was posted on social media, and prompted the investigation.

WISH-TV has reached out to the Alpha Tau Omega national organization, and the Bloomington chapter president. “If confirmed, the men who were a part of such an outlandish incident do not represent the fraternity and damage the fraternity’s name for thousands of other ATO undergraduates and alumni across the country”.

The suspension comes amid a growing scrutiny of Greek culture at colleges and universities. They also can’t add new members while the university investigates. This story will be updated when more information becomes available.
