Amanda Blackburn, 28, was shot in the head and was found severely injured inside her home.
Davey and his wife, Amanda, founded the Resonate Church in Indianapolis in 2012.
She died Wednesday, 12 weeks pregnant. “It just so happens that Amanda was home … and she was murdered”, said Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Capt. Craig Converse.
And Rev. Charles Harrison of the Ten Point Coalition, appealed to pastors and community leaders to do more to build trust between police and residents.
Amanda and Davey Blackburn founded Resonate Church in 2012 after moving to the area from SC.
The couple’s young child was home when the alleged home invasion occurred and Adams said that a few security footage from neighbors’ homes has been collected as part of the ongoing investigation. “There is no way to prepare yourself for circumstances like these”, Blackburn wrote in a statement. “We have extremely heavy hearts and although we are hurting tremendously, we are hoping and believing that the best is still yet to come”.
It’s not clear whether the SUV is connected to the incident, but police said they believe the suspect also burglarized another nearby home.
The pastor added: “I hold firm to the belief that God is still good, that he takes our tragedy and turns it into triumph”.
The home invasion suspect believed to have murdered Amanda Blackburn was robbing a home two doors down from the residence of the pastor’s wife.
Neighbors had seen the suspect walking around in the vicinity of Blackburn’s home in what is normally a very quiet neighborhood. The Blackburns had called their mission in Indianapolis Resonate Church.
No one was in custody in connection with the crime, which was initially reported to authorities as an assault on a female victim, the Police Department said. “I’ll be taking this time to focus on being a great follower of Jesus, dad, family member, and pastor of our growing church”. Her 15-month-old son son was in his crib upstairs, Converse said. “Everything she did was to help other people and that’s what she was about”.
The Indianapolis police and various law enforcement representatives gave an update this morning on the search for Amanda Blackburn’s killer.
“She was all about people coming to know Jesus, that’s who she was as a person”, said Derek.
