The victim was taken to Eskenazi Health in unknown condition. WRTV reported that the suspect died from injuries sustained from exchanging gunfire with police.
A female passenger bailed from the suspect’s vehicle during the chase.
The pursuit eventually ended on the city’s east side near Rural Street and Newton Street, where police say the suspect continued to shoot. At this point in the investigation, detectives were able to confirm that the suspect was armed and that a firearm was recovered from the scene.
Two officers were involved with the shooting.
Local media report the incident began at an apartment complex on the city’s northwest side and a suspect led police along a chase on Interstate 465.
Multiple shots were fired between the suspect and police during the pursuit.
