New York Yankees RHP Dellin Betances said he was shocked after the organization traded closer and LHP Andrew Miller to the Cleveland Indians on Sunday.
Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy has blocked his proposed trade to Cleveland after the teams had reached a preliminary agreement on a deal sending the two-time All-Star to the Indians.
“There were some circumstances that came up that made me void it, obviously”, said Lucroy. “So we’ll see where it takes us, but that’s the effort that we’ve got going on here, and I think fans should be excited by that”. “I had no control over it, so, just go with the flow”. They didnt go halfway. Milwaukee general manager David Stearns says the Brewers will move on after Lucroy refused to waive the no-trade provision in his contract. Maybe they even have a chance to bring a title to Cleveland.
Lucroy told reporters in Milwaukee he was looking for “long-term gain, not short-term gain”, and that he was concerned about playing time, with Cleveland catcher Yan Gomes signed through 2019.
“We lost a true leader and good friend for me”, Betances said.
So will his ability to mix and match Miller with RHP Bryan Shaw in the late innings before handing the ball to RH closer Cody Allen. Currently, Sheffield is ranked around 96th on the list of top 100 prospects, one of now seven players in the Yankees’ minor league system ranked in the top 100 in baseball, the most among any team.
