Indians’ Carrasco could miss 6 weeks with hamstring injury

He left Sunday’s game about 15 minutes after Cleveland starter Carlos Carrasco came out with a leg injury.

Carrasco had to exit Sunday’s game against the Detroit Tigers in the third inning after he suddenly fell to the ground while covering first base on a ground ball.

Following Cleveland’s 6-3 win, manager Terry Francona confirmed that Carrasco was headed to the disabled list, but he didn’t quite know for how long.

“We’re not clicking right now offensively and from a pitching standpoint, quite frankly”, Ausmus said.

Francisco Lindor had 3 hits and Jose Ramirez and Marlon Byrd both drove in 2 runs a piece as the Tribe moved to 9-7 on the season. Former Tiger Rajai Davis supplied two hits and knocked in two runs for the Indians, who have won the first two games of the three-game series.

“He had his wedding ring on, which is great”, Ausmus said.

Trevor Bauer (1-0) picked up the win, allowing two runs in 3 1/3 innings.

“I’m hoping that the players are not turning off an ear, because I’ve seen them do that many, many times in all of the clubhouses that I’ve been in”, Thomas said.

Greene left Sunday’s start against the Cleveland Indians in the fourth inning with a blister.

Though he hasn’t developed as many expected at the big-league level, Bauer is still only 25 and it’s not out of the question that he proves a proverbial “late bloomer” and comes through with a good season in the rotation.

“It worked about as well as you can draw it up”, Francona said.

“When Corey’s on the mound, the guys facing him have it in the back of their mind that they’re going to try to pitch their best game”, Gomes said. Shaw proceeded to record a strikeout for the second out but then walked two hitters to load the bases with two outs.

After offseason surgery to fix a torn labrum in his right shoulder, Brantley appeared in two Major League spring-training games and spent 12 days on a rehabilitation assignment with the Double-A Akron RubberDucks and Triple-A Columbus Clippers.

The Tigers scored twice on a Nick Castellanos single in the fourth inning before the recently recalled Matt Boyd took over for VerHagen in the fifth and shut the Indians down the rest of way (4 2/3 scoreless innings on two hits). “They’d lost the last couple of games to us and I think he was trying to nitpick and find something to throw us off a little”.
