Indians get 10th straight win

Lonnie Chisenhall and Jason Kipnis homered, Trevor Bauer turned in his sixth consecutive quality start and the Indians stretched their winning streak to 10 games with an 8-3 interleague victory Monday night over the Atlanta Braves.

The Braves generated few scoring chances against Bauer (6-2) over six innings. Second base umpire Hunter Wendelstedt finished the game behind the plate.

Atlanta right-hander Mauricio Cabrera, 22, allowed one hit in the seventh inning in his major league debut after he was recalled from Double-A Mississippi.

Layne was staggered by the foul tip, which appeared to hit the right side of his head beyond the area covered by his mask.

NOTES: The Braves designated for assignment veteran RHP Alexi Ogando and promoted RHP Maurico Cabrera from Double-A Mississippi.

Braves: IF Gordon Beckham (strained left hamstring) began his rehab assignment Monday with the team’s Gulf Coast League affiliate and could return in a week.

The Braves obviously aren’t good and tonight they send Matt Wisler to the mound, he’s 3-7 with a 4.22 ERA over 14 starts. The 23-year-old earned his first win against the New York Mets on June 17 but could not make it two in a row as he was reached for three runs and seven hits over 5 2/3 innings in a loss at Miami on Wednesday. After that series, the two teams were tied for the AL Central lead at 35-30.
