Indians’ Kluber has no-hitter through 6 innings

One game doesn’t change his outlook, but he certainly looked good in his Indians debut. It’s hard to say.

Saturday, Santana failed to retire leadoff man Jose Ramirez in any of his three plate appearances against him.

Here’s snapshot of the night. The big hits in that inning were a two-run double by third baseman Trevor Plouffe and a two-run single by Hunter.

But that was only the start. Bauer’s home runs were to Joe Mauer in the first inning, Kurt Suzuki in the fourth inning and Eddie Rosario in the sixth. Almonte is the first Indian to record four hits with three extra base hits in an Indians debut going back to 1914 according to Stats Inc.

The Cleveland Indians shoot for another win against the Minnesota Twins in Sunday action.

The Texas Rangers (6.93 ERA) have bashed Santana (2-3) around even more in 17 career starts at the Ballpark in Arlington.

On Friday night, Twins starter Mike Pelfrey also struggled, lasting only 3 2/3 innings, before he was pulled. He walked two and struck out one. Bauer allowed three home runs in his six and a third innings pitched.

They have given up 99 hits (16 homers) and 24 walks in their past 72 2/3 innings. Robinson, who hadn’t pitched since Little League in Tampa, Fla., retired three of the four batters he faced, striking out Jerry Sands with a 64-mph knuckleball to end the eighth.

It was a night of firsts for the Tribe.

Expectations weren’t particularly high, but Abraham Almonte certainly announced his arrival in Cleveland.

Twice in his career, Santana has been lifted from a start after retiring just one batter.

Chris Johnson made his Indians’ debut as a pinch-hitter in the eighth.

With a number of their veterans, including Swisher and Bourn, gone in trades, the Indians employed a youth-laden lineup that performed beyond its age. Lonnie Chisenhall was the only regular who didn’t score a run.

It doesn’t actually really feel prefer it, not after Saturday night time’s 17-Four catastrophe, not after their pitching employees has been completely demolished for almost every week.

The Twins needed to remind themselves immediately about one thing exceptional: They will nonetheless win this collection.

The Twins (55-55) have lost eight of their last 11. He added a single and homer later in the game.

Almonte, acquired from San Diego for pitcher Marc Rzepczynski on July 31, started in center field. Sands hits the first grand slam for the Indians this season into the seats in right field to turn what could have been a close game into a rout.

Bauer has now allowed 21 homers this season.

“He’s not getting the attention he did last year because of his record”. The Indians have drawn 986,967 fans in 54 home dates.
