Indians sign Juan Uribe to one-year, $5 million deal
According to FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal, the Cleveland Indians have reached an agreement with veteran third baseman Juan Uribe, pending a physical and some minor visa issues.

Details of the contract have not yet been revealed, but Buster Olney claims the deal is for somewhere around $5 million.
The Indians had been linked to Uribe (“who’s built a bit like Ronnie Belliard’s stockier uncle…”) for much of the last few weeks.
Uribe’s arrival gives manager Terry Francona the option of using him and switch-hitting Jose Ramirez at third while Urshela goes to Class AAA Columbus.

Uribe, who has been an offensive weapon late into his career, is familiar with the Indians, spending five seasons from 2004-08 with Central Division rival Chicago. 253 with 14 homers and 43 RBIs in 119 games for the three teams combined. 225 with six homers in 81 games for Cleveland last season. The San Francisco Giants were said to also have kicked the tires about a potential reunion with Uribe, but balked at Uribe’s asking price being “too expensive” for their budget.
