Indonesia arrests Indian man wanted in murders of 20 women

Indonesian authorities said Monday they will deport an Indian fugitive shortly after arresting the alleged organized crime boss on the Indonesian resort island of Bali. “What we know is that this man was suspected to have carried out 15 to 20 murders in India”.

An Indian national has been taken into custody at Bali’s Ngurah Rai worldwide Airport working together with Airport police. “The report said that police were tipped off by Interpol in Australia”. A Mangalore court had sentenced him to death in December 2013.

The Times of India reported that Rajan – wanted for multiple charges including murder and possession and use of illegal firearms – had been apprehended thanks to Australian and Indonesian cooperation.

Kumar was listed on a “red notice” issued by Interpol and is accused of committing 25 murders in India.

Denpasar Police chief detective Reinhard Habonaran Nainggolan says Kumar was arrested Sunday after arriving at Bali’s airport from Sydney, based on a red notice from Interpol.

The Indian man, who was arrested in Indonesia on Sunday, was serial killer Mohan Kumar (better known as Cyanide Mohan), not underworld don Chhota Rajan.

“We keep coordinating with immigration office, Indian police and consulates in Bali to decide further action”, said Nainggolan.
