Indonesia beat Malaysia for mixed doubles gold

The Malaysian mixed pair beat Poland’s Robert Mateusiak-Zieba Nadiezda 21-17, 21-10 in the quarter-finals.

They will face Indonesia’s Tontowi Ahmad-Liliyana Natsir in Wednesday’s final, a repeat of the group matches tie with the world number three who beat the Malaysians 21-15, 21-11 last Saturday.

Frost admitted that the Indonesians were still a hard pair and favourites for the title but insisted that it was not impossible for Peng Soon-Liu Ying to use the winning momentum to turn on the tables on their rivals.

Liu Ying said they do not want to fail after coming this far and the final will be another challenging round against the Indonesians who disposed off London Olympics gold medallists, Zhang Nan-Zhao Yunlei.
