Indonesia to send special envoys to help ease Saudi-Iran tensions

At an Arab League meeting in Cairo on January 10, the ministers accused Shi’ite-ruled Iran of breaking worldwide agreements by intentionally failing to protect Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic posts in Tehran.

Riyadh denies this. Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir reiterated Saudi “support for the Syrian opposition and for efforts to find a peaceful solution” in the country.

Cutting ties with Iran and putting pressure on other countries in so doing will not bear any benefit to Riyadh, he added.

As Tim Farron, the leader of the Liberal Democrats said, “Clearly, Saudi Arabia has a great influence over this Government”.

They are part of a plan endorsed by the Security Council last month to end the five-year-war that has killed 250,000 people and created millions of refugees.

“Saudi remains to be a strong and special ally of Pakistan with their long historical relations, however the geopolitical developments in recent times have given new elements that made Pakistan counter-balance its relations with Saudi Arabia”, said Giorgio Cafiero, chief executive officer and founder of Washington-based firm Gulf State Analytics.

Naqdi noted that the U.S. is doing its utmost to infiltrate Iran, saying that Washington is training terrorists and arming them along Iran’s eastern and western borders.
